A Pennsylvania blasphemy law originally passed in 1977 is prohibiting a filmmaker in Pennsylvania from starting a company with the ever-so-colorful name “I Choose Hell Productions.”

George Kalman, who tried to start the company, is teaming up with the ACLU to get the law overturned.

Moneyquote: “They’re actually imposing their religious beliefs on me. They’re saying that you either believe what we believe or we won’t let you live your life.”

Kalman’s company apparently runs afoul of the law’s specific language that prohibit “words that constitute blasphemy, profane cursing or swearing or that profane the Lord’s name.”

The law apparently hasn’t stopped two companies that currently exist in Pennsylvania: Devil Media and Satanic Butt Slayers

Turns out Massachusetts, Michigan, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wyoming also still have blasphemy laws in place. Punishments for violating these laws range from a $500 fine to a year in prison. Looks like some people will need to think twice before going public with their verbal road rage…
