Ten years after the tragic killings of students at Columbine High School, a new book and media reports about it reveal that the two teens who went on a rampage in Littleton, Colo., on April 20, 1999 were not specifically targeting Christians or other kinds of students.

“That story about a student being shot in the head after she said she believed in God? Never happened, the FBI says now,” reported USA Today.

The media reports focus on a new book, “Columbine,” by journalist and author Dave Cullen.

CNN reported that there was a different student than one often highlighted who spoke out about her faith in the tense moments a decade ago.

“… Many in the media initially reported that 17-year-old Cassie Bernall, a Christian, answered `yes’ when asked if she believed in God before she was shot to death. She became a poster child for the evangelical movement after her death. But investigators and student witnesses later told Cullen that it was another student, Valeen Schnurr, who avowed her belief in God as she was shot. Schnurr survived.”
