A second woman has come forward accusing Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo of fathering her child while he was a Catholic cleric. Last week, Lugo admitted that he had fathered a child with a different woman, Viviana Carrillo, while he was a Catholic bishop.

News accounts say Lugo, who took off his cleric’s collar to become president, began his relationship with Carillo when she was 16.

Stateside, the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests is not pleased: “It’s almost always hurtful and manipulative for a priest to have sex with a Catholic. It’s even worse when that sex is with a child or teen. And it’s perhaps worst of all when the priest is a powerful bishop and when the result is a child who deserves and needs stability and two parents.”
