Weigel says: “…the United States Government does not endorse Christianity or any brand thereof as the official national faith. But as a cultural matter, its seems odd to say that America is not a Christian nation when three out of every four Americans claim that Christianity is the source of their deepest commitments – including, one might assume, their commitments to civility, tolerance, religious freedom, the rule of law, and democracy.”

Hmm, I’ve seen polls that 76 percent of Americans say they’re Christians, but that other stuff (“source of their deepest commitments”), I don’t know nothing about that. I know plenty of Christians whose deepest commitments are to the National Football League.
