Seems Jeff Sharlet, author of ”The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power,” has been a go-to guy on the secretive organization, especially since some prominent Republicans tied to recent scandals have links to it.

He was featured this week in a roundtable discussion that appears on Religion Dispatches.

He also was the topic of a three-part Q&A from EthicsDaily this week. One tidbit in the first part was that he said the attention he and others have given the secretive organization _ known for holding the annual National Prayer Breakfast _ has prompted a change in access to the Billy Graham Center archives at Wheaton College in Illinois.

Says Sharlet: “As for the archives, the historical papers are still open, but the more contemporary stuff is closed, restricted following my Harper’s story, a major investigative piece for the L.A. Times and research by some foreign journalists.”

In part three, he predicts that The Family’s leadership may fade but its ideas may not.

And, for still more on his book, I interviewed him for a ”10 Minutes with…Jeff Sharlet” last year.
