I confess that we have been remiss here at RNS.

We have not yet posted the video of the exciting car chase in which a 7-year-old leads police around Utah to avoid going to church. Before our media credentials are taken away, here it is. The best part is at the end, when the boy exits the car and runs to his house.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Weber County officers “saw a white Dodge Intrepid driving recklessly and pursued the car, which never exceeded 40 mph. The car drove to a home, where, to officers’ surprise, a young boy jumped out and ran into his house.

“[The family] does not want this attention to be perceived by their son as an incentive or reward for his actions of taking the family car for a joyride,” said Capt. Klint Anderson of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. “Humorous as this event was, it could easily have been a tragic story instead.” No charges were filled.
