Wednesday Godbytes, Freestyle Edition: Rap Battles; Mark Driscoll; Pinterest

Awwwwwwwwwwww Yeah!  It's time for a good ol'-fashioned religion rap-off! Give me a beat!

Awwwwwwwwwwww Yeah!  It's time for a good ol'-fashioned religion rap-off!

Give me a beat!

You might remember this video on Jesus and religion,

It got a lot of press, and quite a few mentions.

But Religion Dispatches says not all Christians are convinced,

Some fired back with their own rhymes, incensed.

But the talk of the Twitterverse isn't this, I confess,

'Cuz all the focus is on Obama's State of the Union Address!

While religion wasn't discussed much in the President's words,

Religion leaders mos-def made their digital voices heard.

Some looked at the speech's genre and class,

Like this tweet from Christian author Diana Butler Bass:

Others, like pastor Bruce Reyes-Chow,

heard a few of Obama's jokes and just thought “Ow!”

But what would a week of Godbytes be without Megapastor Mark?

Driscoll that is — he can sure light a spark!

He's the subject of a negative expose,

Check Part 1 and Part 2, 'cuz there's a lot to say.

Some folks, in fact, think his new book is an insult,

With even some professors calling Driscoll's church a cult.

But say what you want, the guy's got some sway,

He's moderating the evangelical “Elephant Room” today!

Here's one young designers might find of interest,

Religious groups are starting to use the stylish social-tool Pinterest!

But let me close this out with your Video of the Day,

It's about a D.C.-based Muslim Rap group…Godbizzites, away!
