NEW YORK (RNS) A coordinated legal onslaught by Catholic bishops against the Obama administration's birth control mandate has exposed serious fault lines within the U.S. hierarchy as some leaders are privately and even openly question the legal and political ramifications of the strategy. 1. Divided bishops? Oh, oh! They had better watch their miters and croziers because Benedict will strike down on them just as he did on the LCWR group of religious women in this country, and as he has on every group and every individual who dares to challenge his majesty–pardon me–it’s called his “magisterium.” Same difference. Catholics are a bunch of babies, at any age, who cannot and should not dare to think for themselves. Let the bosses in the long dresses do it for you. If they can find the time when they aren’t sexually abusing your kids or working overtime to hide those sins and crimes.

  2. Individuals are perfectly competent to decide for themselves if and when to have babies or not have them. The holy, celibate clergy doesn’t help one bit in raising them. They do on occasion molest them sexually and otherwise, and then their bishops bosses hide that sin and crime, but that’s another matter.
