SAN FRANCISCO (RNS) The way many members of the Mormon Church treat gay and lesbian people people is in many cases not in keeping with what I feel is the doctrine of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon bishop, and I believe this must change. by Donald Fletcher.

  1. Jesus would say your sins are fogiven and sin no more. NOt to have sex with memeber of same sex.

  2. Jesus would say your sins are forgiven and sin no more. Jesus would want the person not to have homosexual sex sin.

  3. Yes, the Bible agrees with Gary’s comment. To reinforce that statement, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 says,”What! Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom. And yet that is what some of you WERE. But you have been washed clean, but you have been sanctified, but you have been declared righteous in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God.” “WERE” is past tense. So a person had to stop doing these things (with the help of God’s spirit) in order to become a Christian. Humans have many wrong tendencies but these are to be fought against and overcome with God’s help. If you are an alcoholic you must fight the inclination to be a drunkard. We don’t say of alcoholics, “well, he/she was born with the tendency so just let him/her be and accept it”. NO, a loving family will not judge but should help that one remain faithful to God and keep integrity to him.
A true Christian also follows the admonition to “be peaceable with ALL men”. (Romans 12:18) So no Christian has the right to treat another person with disrespect or disdain nor does a Christian have the job of judging anyone else, that’s Jesus’ commission….NO ONE SHOULD BE BULLIED!
