(RNS) Pope Benedict XVI was first, last, and always a teacher. But he was always, alas, a weak manager of personnel. In the end Benedict XVI was the ``caretaker pope'' that many didn't expect him to be.


  1. I suppose the Cardinals elected him in 2005 because among them he loved the Lord the most. For eight years, he continued to love the Lord. He confirmed us in our faith. Caretaker Pope – not on your life. Managerial crisis – much of this is manufactured and blown out of proportion. I am sure when the histories are written, it will be confirmed. He brought God to men just like a Pope should.
