(RNS) The author of "The Fresh Honey Cookbook," a certified beekeeper, offers advice on making foods sweeter for the Jewish New Year.

  1. One use that was omitted here, is an old traditional teaching device: the Hebrew letters were covered in honey so that children could learn their aleph-bait (alphabet). I assume these were cakes baked in the form of letters of the alphabet.
