(RNS) More than a third of U.S. Catholic parishes are multicultural, according to a study by Georgetown University's Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate.

      Much of the multicultural aspects of the Catholic Church are remnants of colonialism. Catholicism came to Latin America, Africa and Asia mostly following Spanish and French domination of those areas.
