Humanists all over the world celebrated their rational way of thinking this past weekend on World Humanist Day.
The celebration has existed since the 1980s, and might feature parties, ceremonies, proclamations and conferences, according to the International Humanist and Ethical Union.
To celebrate in London this year, the British Humanist Association hosted a variety show called “One Day in One Life” with guest speakers and concessions.
In Belgium, events included meeting at Tyne Cot Cemetery for a discussion of humanism and World War I. The IHEU detailed this year’s international celebrations in a report.
In honor of the day, learn more about this philosophical framework with a video narrated by English entertainer Stephen Fry, and check out this exclusive interview with him, conducted by our own Chris Stedman.
