SALT LAKE CITY (RNS) Attorney General Sean Reyes has said he would appeal the federal court ruling that found the law against polygamy was unconstitutional.

  1. The law was definitely overreaching and entirely motivated by religious based animosity from the outset.

Before people start misrepresenting facts here lets make this absolutely clear: This law had nothing to do with the number of people married as recognized under the law. It was always one legally recognized spouse per customer.

The law affected people who cohabited without legal recognition who “gave the appearance of polygamy”. Something motivated by the LDS Church’s need to ostracize and disassociate themselves with polygamists who technically are following the law when it comes to marriage.
