Anne Graham Lotz’s husband in ICU, found unconscious in pool

(RNS) Anne Graham Lotz's Facebook page said she found him in the pool midafternoon Monday (Aug. 17). Lotz, a retired dentist, suffered a host of complications from diabetes and had been on dialysis for years.

(RNS) Danny Lotz, the husband of evangelist Anne Graham Lotz,  a popular Bible teacher and daughter of the Rev. Billy Graham, was rushed to a hospital after he was found unresponsive in the swimming pool of the couple’s Raleigh, N.C., home.

Anne Graham Lotz’s Facebook page said she found him there midafternoon Monday (Aug. 17). Lotz, a retired dentist, suffered a host of complications from diabetes and had been on dialysis for years.


“The family appreciates your continued prayers as they wait and trust in the Lord,” her Facebook page reads.

A Raleigh TV station, WRAL, reported that the Wake County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the incident.

Danny Lotz, 78,  was a former college basketball star. At 6 feet 6 inches tall, he played on the North Carolina team that won the national championship in 1957. He had been active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and for years led a popular men’s Bible study attended by hundreds of evangelical men from Raleigh and beyond. He married Anne Graham in 1966, and the two have three children.

Anne Graham Lotz launched her own ministry, AnGeL Ministries, and travels widely across the world, preaching mostly to women. She has written several devotional guides.
