2009 PARLIAMENT OF RELIGIONS ANNOUNCES
GROUNDBREAKING CONFLICT RESOLUTION PROGRAM

CHICAGO (October 29, 2009) -- The Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions, a leading advocate of interreligious peace, is pleased to announce a Conflict Resolution Program to be offered at the fifth Parliament of Religions, to be held December 3 - 9, 2009 in Melbourne, Australia.

24 Conflict Resolution Programs will feature 8 peacekeeping teams from various regions of the world affected by conflict. Panels will highlight conflictcase studies from the perspectives of religion, media, women, Indigenous peoples and more. Representatives and faith-based teams from the following countries will be featured:

Presenters on the Conflict Resolution panels will include Tonya Gonnella Frichner Esq., Fr. Leonel Narvaez, Ms. Jacqueline Ogega, Constantino Pinto, Dr. William Vendley, Leymanh Gbowee, Ms. Margaret Lokawua and Ven. Dharma Master Hsin Tao.

"Every culture, every religion and every nation confronts the question of how to establish a lasting peace with their neighbors," says Executive Director Dirk Ficca. "At the Parliament of Religions, people of conviction, knowledge, and discernment will come together to make a commitment to the cultivation of peace and justice, and to share models of cooperation and hope." While the format and scope of the Conflict Resolution Program is unprecedented in the history of the interreligious movement, CPWR has long advocated a vision of nonviolence and harmony among the world's communities.

The Conflict Resolution Program is made possible through the generous support of Ven. Dharma Master Hsin Tao.
