Houston, TX:  Worldwide Marriage Encounter, a Catholic Enrichment program for married couples, recently selected a new United States leadership team during a meeting held here,  The new United States leadership team is Scott & Karen Seaborn from Waterloo, IL and Fr. Tom Griffith, SVD from Duxbury, MA.

"We are very pleased that Scott and Karen and Father Tom are leading Worldwide Marriage Encounter's efforts in the United States.  They share our vision to renew the Sacraments of Marriage and Holy Orders, and to help implement the US Catholic Bishop's Pastoral Initiative on Marriage by supporting marriage enrichment programs in parishes across the country, " said Jose and Marilyn Garcia and Fr. Mitch Walters, the Worldwide Marriage Encounter North American Secretariat leadership team.

Scott & Karen have been involved in WWME since 1993.  They have served in many leadership capacities at the local, regional and national levels.  Scott is the Administrator of St. Joseph Hospital in Murphysboro, IL and Karen is Pastoral Associate for their parish, Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, in Waterloo, IL.  They have been married for 25 years.

Fr. Tom Griffith is a Divine Word Missionary currently serving at the Miramar Retreat Center in Duxbury, Massachusetts.  He has been active in WWME since 1986.  He has served in leadership since 1989 in several capacities.  Fr. Tom has ministered to God's people as a priest for forty years.

"This is an exciting time to serve our movement and our Catholic Church" said Scott.  Karen added that "it seems our entire Church is recognizing the urgency of promoting strong Christian marriage." Fr. Tom said "I feel honored and privileged to be selected to lead with Scott & Karen.  We hope to expand our programs in the United States. This is a blessed time for our country."  

Worldwide Marriage Encounter recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and its presence in over 90 countries makes it the largest pro-marriage movement in the world.  In the United States, the movement is divided into 19 sections based on geography and language (English, Spanish and Korean).  Scott & Karen and Fr. Tom will lead the United States portion of this worldwide movement.
