The old ball and chain
Last month I blogged about an American Buddhist couple that never strays more than 15 feet from each other (all the while remaining chaste, they say.). They read from the same book, eat from the same plate, and when inspired, rise to write at the same untimely hours. They consider giving up the self’s autonomy a “high Buddhist practice.”
Slate’s David Plotz and his wife, author Hanna Rosin, decided to give it a try. Connected by a 15-foot piece of string, the writers spent all day joined at the hip.
Here’s what happened.
