Religion News Service Internship

Description of Internship

An RNS internship means gaining practical experience as a news reporter and building a strong clip file. RNS' interns regularly have their pieces picked up by major consumer and religious media.

RNS seeks an undergraduate or graduate journalism student with knowledge of religion and experience in reporting on the religion beat to cover press conferences, Capitol Hill, events taking place in Washington, and news stories based on press releases.

RNS has three full-time Washington-based editors with extensive experience in religion reporting, willing to work with a qualified intern to generate and edit stories, help make contacts with religious organizations and media, and develop the nuances of religion reporting.

The intern will meet with RNS' editor-in-chief to determine a mutually convenient working schedule. The primary focus of the intern will be writing short news stories for RNS' daily news service, 300-400 words in length. Feature news stories are also possible. Content of stories and frequency of writing are to be determined by the editor and the intern.
