• Voter IDs – South Carolina is one of thirty-four states that have introduced legislation requiring prospective voters to have a photo ID — a passport, a military ID or one issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles — a process that can be difficult and time-consuming. As Lucky Severson reports, the Justice Department has put a hold on the South Carolina law while it investigates whether the legislation discriminates against minorities.
• USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah – Under Rajiv Shah’s leadership, the US Agency for International Development has expanded partnerships with faith-based humanitarian groups — by more than fifty percent — to better serve people in need around the world. Managing Editor Kim Lawton talks with Shah about why the government is seeking those partnerships, and what challenges they can pose.
