In a sign of the times, the Presbyterian Church USA’s newly elected General Assembly moderator, the Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow, has not one, but two blogs.

The San Francisco pastor is reportedly active in the emergent church movement and committed to new church development; the moderator leads the PCUSA through its biennial general assemblies, and is an ambassador for the denomination for the rest of his two-year term.

In nominating Reyes-Chow, 39, Elder Vivian Guthrie said “Bruce has a profound understanding of the way the world is changing, so he can help us feel less anxious and less resistant to change.”

As a reporter, I can tell you that I’m thrilled to see a church mucky-muck with a blog; it’s a good way to stay in touch with what they’re doing/thinking without pestering them with phone calls and e-mails. And as a fan of music, I’m pretty psyched that he posted a video of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince’s “Summertime,” which was the incessant soundtrack to my summer of 1991.

Find Reyes-Chow’s blogs here and here.
