Wiley Drake, the California minister probably known most for working to get his fellow Southern Baptists to boycott the Walt Disney Co. years ago, is continuing to seek other claims to fame, though his chances are limited.

After making an unsuccessful run for president of the Southern Baptist Convention in June, he has joined American Independent Party presidential candidate Alan Keyes as his vice presidential candidate.

The Los Angeles Times reported in September that when Drake supported the Alliance Defense Fund’s controversial “Pulpit Freedom Sunday” initiative, Drake backed Keyes. The two men’s names are officially on the California ballot, according to that state’s board of elections.

Drake’s name also was in the news earlier this year for supporting another candidate. The Internal Revenue Service cleared him after he endorsed then-GOP presidential candidate and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
