A South Carolina Catholic priest has warned parishioners who voted for President-elect Barack Obama that they “drink and eat their own condemnation” if they receive Communion without confessing their sin. But the priest, the Rev. Jay Scott Newman, overstepped his priestly authority and the wishes of the Catholic bishops, said the Rev. Thomas Reese, a Jesuit priest and senior fellow at Georgetown University’s Woodstock Theological Center.
