WASHINGTON-Throughout his eight years in the Oval Office, President Bush made numerous references to God using the term `the Almighty.’ Here are some examples:

“I’m grateful to all of you, who remind us that a great people must spend time on bended knee, in humility, searching for wisdom in the presence of the Almighty.”

-May 2, 2002 remarks at a National Day of Prayer reception at the White House.


“I call on every American to uphold the values of America and remember why many have come here. In our war against terror, we must never lose sight of the values that makes our country so strong; the values of respect and tolerance. The value that we believe that everybody ought to worship the Almighty, however they so choose.”

-At a roundtable with Arab- and Muslim-American leaders on Sept. 10, 2002.
