Conservative Christian groups have criticized the call by NBC to not air a Super Bowl commercial that carried an anti-abortion message featuring President Obama.

“This child’s future is a broken home,” begin the words on the screen that accompany video of an ultrasound and crescendoing music. “He will be abandoned by his father … his single mother will struggle to raise him … despite the hardships he will endure … this child … will become …the 1st African American President.”

The ad was sponsored by CatholicVote.org and paid for by the Fidelis Center for Law and Policy.

The Washington Times reported that NBC told Fidelis’ Brian Burch that it would not air “political or advocacy ads.”

Said Tony Perkins of Family Research Council: “In reality, these 41 seconds do more to inspire than the hundreds of other Super Bowl ads that use sex and alcohol to wow viewers.”
