Al’s Morning Meeting of Poynter Online has an interesting look at what newspapers are saying about the possible effect of “Lyme rage” on the man who shot and killed a pastor in Illinois last Sunday.

Al says: “The case has focused new attention on those who suffer with Lyme disease. In 2007, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 27,444 cases of Lyme disease in the U.S. Some of these cases result in aggressive psychiatric symptoms, or `Lyme rage.'”

And United Methodist News Service has a story on the Rev. J. Michael Smith of Glen Carbon, Ill., who was the shooter’s pastor for 13 years.
