So, there’s a lot of chatter out there about President Obama’s proclamation that designates June as “LGBT Pride Month” (that’s lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender for the acronym-unaware among us). Gay groups, on one side, are grateful but frustrated over their stalled agenda on hate crimes, repealing Don’t Ask-Don’t Tell and especially White House silence over gay-marriage setbacks in California and advances in Maine, Vermont, Iowa and elsewhere.

On the other side, conservative groups are predictably upset over any White House move to acknowledge or support gay rights, much less a gay-pride proclamation that also includes the words “in the year of our Lord.” But here’s the part that really stood out at me, from the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins:

“At last count, the Obama administration employed 36 open homosexuals.”

Really? Is someone keeping track? You’re sure it’s not 35 or 37? I don’t really have a dog in this fight, but I was struck that people like Perkins are still keeping lists like this.
