After the Rev. Jeremiah Wright told the Daily Press of Newport News, Va., that “Them Jews ain’t going to let him talk to me” – referring to President Obama _ the retired Chicago pastor is backpedaling a bit.

“Let me say, like Hillary, I misspoke,” said Wright, The Washington Post reported. “Let me just say: Zionists.”

The president’s former pastor added: “I was walking from a worship service to my car, trying to talk rapidly, trying to explain, answer this guy and trying to get him off the Barack Obama kick.”

We noted the original comments of the president’s former pastor on our blog on Wednesday.

The Post reported that Wright also issued a press release, in capital letters, that included an apology.

“EXTREMELY DISTURBED AND DEEPLY SADDENED THAT ONCE AGAIN MY COMMENTS HAVE RESURFACED THIS DIVISIVE DEBATE ABOUT MY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MYSELF AND PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA,” the statement reads. “I APOLOGIZE FOR THE WAY I FRAMED MY COMMENTS.”
