(RNS) The 2010 Beliefnet awards for best spiritual films mirror many of this year’s Oscar nominees, including “Up,” “Precious” and “The Blind Side.”

Each category had two winners, one chosen by Beliefnet users and one by a panel of judges. The panel based their decision on quality and spiritual impact of the films and included editors of Beliefnet, critics, writers and academics.

“The Blind Side,” nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, won Beliefnet’s People’s Choice Award for best spiritual film, and the judges chose “The Road.” Based on a novel by Cormac McCarthy, “The Road” portrays a father and son in a post-apocalyptic world, struggling to survive and carry out the hope for humanity.

The vote was unanimous for best inspirational film. The judges and Beliefnet users both chose “Precious,” which is also nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture, Actress in a Leading Role, Director and Writer. Judges also named five-time Oscar nominee “Up” as best inspirational film.

“Earth” was named best spiritual documentary by Beliefnet voters, and “More Than a Game” was cited by the judges.

The 2010 Beliefnet Film Awards include:

Best Spiritual Film: “The Road” (Judges Award) and “The Blind Side” (People’s Award)

Best Inspirational Film: “Precious” and “Up” (Judges Award) and “Precious” (People’s Award)

Best Spiritual Documentary: “More Than a Game” (Judges Award) and “Earth” (People’s Award)
