Sarah Palin to write Christmas book

(RNS) Sarah Palin's new book on Christmas will argue that "it is imperative that we stand up for our beliefs before the element of faith in a glorious and traditional holiday like Christmas is marginalized and ignored," she says.

The former GOP vice presidential candidate is writing, “A Happy Holiday IS a Merry Christmas,” in which she will focus on Christian values and criticize the “over-commercialism” and “homogenization” that have come to define Christmas. The Associated Press says the book will come out in November.

“Amidst the fragility of this politically correct era, it is imperative that we stand up for our beliefs before the element of faith in a glorious and traditional holiday like Christmas is marginalized and ignored,” Palin said in a statement released by her publisher, HarperCollins.

She said the book will be “fun, festive” and “thought provoking.” It will “encourage all to see what is possible when we unite in defense of our faith and ignore the politically correct Scrooges who would rather take Christ out of Christmas.”

Palin’s memoir, “Going Rogue,” hit No. 1 on The New York Times best-sellers list. The former Alaska governor also wrote “America by Heart,” in 2010.
