PORTLAND, Ore. (OCP) February 17, 2015 – Dan Schutte, one of the best-known and most influential composers of Catholic music and liturgy has just released a new prayer book and CD: From Ashes to Glory: A Prayer Book for Lent & Easter. This new collection of inspiring words, powerful images and engaging music is timely, offering a humbling and beautiful reminder of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice, and the celebration of his miraculous return.

The book is meant as a point of greater reflection on Christ’s journey: reminding the reader of Christ’s redeeming love rising us up from the dust and ashes of death into glory. The prayer exercises were created to draw readers and listeners into the heart of the mystery of Lent and Easter.

“I set about to write this book of prayers, reflections and music to take the person in the pew on a journey of personal renewal. Many of us don’t have the time or resources to go away on retreat, so hopefully From Ashes To Glory can provide a way to join in the prayer of the Church during these holy days,” said acclaimed Catholic composer Dan Schutte.

The 126-page book includes a companion CD of Schutte’s music to accompany each of the prayer exercises. Each selection in From Ashes to Glory includes a reflection, an inspiring image, scripture passages, lyrics, and a memorable keystone phrase to serve as a simple reminder of God’s love and his sacrifice.

From Ashes to Glory: A Prayer Book for Lent & Easter includes the 19-song CD collection and the printed prayer book and is available for purchase at ocp.org/FromAshestoGlory.
