New e-book on conversion to Judaism

A study by the Pew Research Center concluded: “Americans change religious affiliation early and often. In total, about half of American adults have changed religious affiliation at least once during their lives.” Most of these involve switching from one Protestant denomination to another, but thousands of people also become Jewish.

A study by the Pew Research Center concluded: “Americans change religious affiliation early and often. In total, about half of American adults have changed religious affiliation at least once during their lives.” Most of these involve switching from one Protestant denomination to another, but thousands of people also become Jewish.

Lawrence J. Epstein’s new e-book Should I Convert to Judaism? explores this phenomenon. In the book, Professor Epstein guides readers who are considering joining the Jewish people. The book describes the variety of reasons why people convert, contains a way to think about conversion, a step-by-step description of the conversion process, questions a rabbi might ask a potential candidate, the emotional ups-and-downs of changing religion, and much more. There are stories of converts throughout the book

Epstein is a former Professor of English and is the author of such books as Conversion to Judaism: A Guidebook, Converts to Judaism: Stories from Biblical Times to Today, and The Haunted Smile: The Story of Jewish Comedians in America. In his latest e-book, he guides readers who are considering joining the Jewish people. The book describes the variety of reasons why people convert, contains a way to think about conversion, a step-by-step description of the conversion process, and much more. There are stories of converts throughout the book Epstein noted, “I’ve tried to provide some tentative answers to the questions potential converts have asked me, to deal with their hopes and their concerns. Religious conversion is a great subject to write about. I hope I’ve done the good job the subject deserves.”
